What to build

Two Paired Devices know whether automatic Handoff between them is Armed (see glossary): both run Medley, their link is up, the receiving Device plays to a Bluetooth headset, and the user has not switched it off. Each Device tells the other over the existing Device link whether it currently plays to a Bluetooth headset (Android detects this on its side). The handing Device shows which Paired Device it is Armed with, and offers a toggle to switch automatic Handoff off, for times the room listens too.

A Device is never Armed while it plays to a network Output.

No Handoff happens yet in this ticket; it only makes the state visible and correct.

Acceptance criteria

  • A Device reports to its Paired Devices whether it plays to a Bluetooth headset, and updates that when the Output changes
  • The UI shows the Armed Paired Device (or none), and why not when it is not (link down, no headset, switched off, network Output)
  • A toggle switches automatic Handoff off and on; the choice is remembered
  • Armed is lost when the link drops or the other Device stops running Medley
  • Core tests cover the Armed rules with two Devices

Implemented on integration branch automatic-handoff (merge 557281b), with code-review fixes in merge fcc0d8d. Lands on main when that branch is pushed and merged.
